If you are looking for a horse to learn from, Selena is a perfect candidate. She has wonderful ground manners to help people gain confidence around horses, but she requires an intermediate to advanced rider looking to acquire more skills and/or improve their confidence in the saddle. She isn't a difficult horse - she just loves having something to do and is enthusiastic about her job.

Selena is truly an all-around horse and can be ridden either English or Western. She loves jumping, barrel racing, going on trail rides, and playing Natural Horsemanship games.

Against All Odds Horsemanship recommends leasing a horse for anyone that wants to own a horse, but needs to gain more experience. Leasing a horse gives you a chance to experience all the responsibilities of owning a horse, but with less stress. In today's economy, horse sales are a difficult market, leaving many unwanted horses in less than ideal situations. (There were approximately 167,000 unwanted horses in the United States as of 2015!) While the idea of rescuing an unwanted horse sounds wonderful, lack of experience, knowledge, or finances on the human's part can leave the horse in a worse situation than he was in originally.

Leasing a horse insures that when the leasee loses interest or can no longer afford to lease a horse, or perhaps the horse and rider just aren't an ideal match, the horse is returned to the owner and into a safe situation, rather than have the horse become neglected, starved, forgotten, or turn into a very expensive lawn ornament while he or she is attempted to be sold.

We have a great selection of horses here at AAOH available for lease to help you decide if owning a horse is really something you want to do (or not!). Some horses are available for full lease, half lease, or even free lease. (See "Leasing Options" at the bottom of the page to learn about our different leasing packages)
